PPA’s recently launched International Mail Distribution accreditation Scheme (IMDAS) is gathering steam with five companies now boasting accreditation.
The scheme was launched to increase clients’ trust
and confidence when selecting a company to
distribute its international mail. The scheme is unique in that it has been developed by clients for clients, providing an extra level of assurance that those who are accredited really can do what they say they can.
|

|
PPA’s International Postal Working Party (IPWP) designed the scheme in conjunction with the Mail Consolidators Association (MCA), in order to raise standards across the industry. Once established, the scheme will become a key discriminator for clients when choosing their international mail distributor.
Explaining why the IPWP had developed the scheme chairman Peter Regis said:
‘We wanted to increase customer confidence when selecting a supplier. Being a member of the scheme will add that extra level of assurance when customers are considering their options.’
BTB Mailflight were one of the first accredited companies, and CEO Ian Kavanagh commented, "We are delighted to have achieved this accreditation, it helps us
prove that although our postal prices are low our services are high quality and very reliable".
The scheme is process-based with audits, site visits, checks and measurement. To become accredited, companies have to pass an audit on how they handle mail delivered or collected by the consolidator or mail produced by the consolidator, ready for posting. The accreditation is renewed annually on successful completion of a compliance questionnaire and successful customer satisfaction surveys.

ROYAL MAIL PRESSTREAM AND MAILSORT DELIVERIES EXCEEDING QUALITY OF SERVICE TARGETS
|
Royal Mail’s quality of service report for the spring quarter of 2008 shows more than 90% of all mail hitting or exceeding target.
Mailsort and Presstream bulk mail services beat their targets along with First and Second Class PPI (Postage Paid Impression) mail and Standard parcels. The report showed 91.9% of stamped First Class Mail arrived the day after posting - against a target of 93.0% - while 98.7% of Second Class mail arrived within three working days, ahead of the 98.5% target.
The report published today covers the first three months of the 2008-09 financial year but the most recent figures covering July show that First Class stamped mail is again beating its 93.0% target level.
Ninian Wilson, Royal Mail’s Operations Director, said: "Royal Mail’s postmen and women put a huge effort into getting First Class stamped mail back above target level and the latest results show their hard work has paid off but we will not relax and are determined to keep delivering the best possible service to all our customers."
